PRINCESS ANNE, MD- The Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will hosts its annual Career and Graduate Professional School Fair on Thursday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Services Center Ballroom.  College students from the area are invited to join UMES students and alumni in exploring the job market and various graduate school opportunities.

Showcased at this year’s fair are some 27 companies including:  WMDT TV- 47; the U.S. Marine Corps; the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal, Plant, Health and Inspection Services; Perdue Farms; the Internal Revenue Service; the FBI, Enterprise Rent- A- Car; the U.S. Supreme Court Police Department; the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Baltimore City Department of Social Services; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Maryland Department of the Environment and many more.

Among the 21 graduate schools represented at the fair are:  Bowie State University; the College of Notre Dame of Maryland School of Pharmacy; Meharry Medical College; the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; Salisbury University; Towson University; and Western New England College School of Law.

“In this economy, it is important to take all the steps you can to make yourself marketable,” said Theresa Queenan, director, UMES Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education.  “For freshmen, sophomores or juniors, the fair presents an opportunity to speak with corporate recruiters about internship programs, cooperative education and summer job opportunities.   Graduate and professional school representatives will be on hand to speak with graduating seniors continuing their education, while corporate and governmental representatives will provide information to those pursuing a career immediately upon graduation.”

The Career and Graduate Professional School Fair is free and open to UMES students and alumni and area college students who have valid university photo identification.  Business professional or casual professional attire is appropriate.  For more information, call the UMES Office of Career Services at 410-651-6447.
