PRINCESS ANNE, MD The School of Pharmacy and Health Professions at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) hosts a kick-off event on Tuesday, November 4, in the Student Services Center multipurpose room from 10 a.m. to noon for its recently funded e-Health Access Project. The school was recently established to contain five academic departments that offer three undergraduate, one master’s and two doctoral degree granting programs.
Established as the School of Health Professions in 2004, the school has since evolved with the addition of a pharmacy program in December 2007. Within the school, successful students earn one of the following degrees: Bachelor of Science in exercise science, Bachelor of Science in physician assistant, Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation services, Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and beginning fall 2010, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
The school was established to facilitate the training of health care professionals through an integrated approach, based on a health perspective that focuses on prevention, wellness and evidence-based practice in answer to the workforce needs of the state.
