PRINCESS ANNE, MD-(Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, 1:30 p.m.)-Little to no effect has been felt in the immediate UMES campus area from Hurricane Earl as it makes its way up the coast.
Winds will begin to subside around 1:30 p.m., rain accumulation will be less than ¼ inch for the remainder of the day and all storm surge tide warnings have been lifted.
The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will step down from Level 3 (staffing of their Emergency Operations Center (EOC) within the next few hours.
No further updates for Hurricane Earl will be issued.
The National Hurricane Center, National Weather Service and NOAA accurately predicted Earl’s path.
Faculty, staff and students leaving the UMES campus today for the holiday weekend and traveling north are reminded that the weather north of Maryland will continue to be influenced by Hurricane Earl. The Office of Public Safety suggests that you monitor weather reports along the route to your final destination. Also be advised that flights may be impacted by the storm in areas to the north.
