Known for her role on the critically acclaimed comedy series “Everybody Hates Chris,” Tichina Arnold recently served as the keynote speaker during the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Women’s History Month Celebration.

The event, presented by the UMES Office of Student Activities, was part of the National Women’s History Month 2010 theme, “Writing Women Back into History!”

Arnold is a two-time National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Image award-winning actress. She received her first Image Award for playing the role of Pam Jones on the hit T.V. series “Martin.” Arnold was awarded a second time for her performance in “Everybody Hates Chris,” a series inspired by the childhood experiences of comedian Chris Rock.

Selected as an Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, Arnold played Rochelle, Chris’ strict, sassy mother, who runs the household on a tight budget, but is the glue that holds the family together.
