PRINCESS ANNE, MD – University of Maryland Eastern Shore President Thelma B. Thompson hosts the sixth annual President’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Friday, February 13, at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Services Center ballroom.  The Rev. Dr. Marc Farmer of the Oakland Mills Church of God in Columbia, Md., is the keynote speaker.

Farmer currently serves as the chief learning officer of the U.S. Marshals Service, overseeing all training and development programs for new Deputy U.S. Marshals as well as seasoned senior executives.  His law enforcement career spans nearly three decades and includes groundbreaking service in areas such as judicial security, operations support, the office of inspection and asset forfeiture.

Public policy and ethical leadership and their applications to community and government service are matters of deep interest to Farmer.  Accordingly, he has worked tirelessly to improve America s justice system as well as the justice systems of foreign governments.  His academic credentials include two master’s degrees, one from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio, and the other from National Defense University in Washington, D.C., as well as a doctoral degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, also located in Washington, D.C.  At Ashland Theological Seminary, he serves as an adjunct professor teaching the discipline of transformational leadership.

Along with a delectable meal, the morning promises uplifting music from the UMES Gospel and Concert choirs, enlightening remarks from Thompson and food for the soul from Farmer.
