Financial Records System

Project Overview

The Financial Records System (FRS) Project at the University of Maryland is a business process re-design effort which will result in more efficient processes for handling business transactions. The FRS system consists of five modules; Fixed Assets, Budget, Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Financial Accounting. In conjunction with web based electronic forms, the business processes within all areas will be markedly improved.

The Goals for FRS include:

  • Efficient and streamlined business processes
  • Capture of data once at the source
  • Reduction of paper (except where required by the State/System)
  • Processing of all transactions electronically
  • Timely and accessible data
  • A system which facilitates and ensures compliance with regulations
