“The Dreams of Harriet Tubman” is a series of mural projects created by Mike Alewitz in 1999-2000 honoring Tubman’s legacy. ‘The Creation of Wealth” mural was completed at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on December 11, 2000.
The text on the sail is a quotation from Frederick Douglass (1857):
“If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation
are people who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning.”
