The Career and Professional Development Center is here to support your recruitment efforts through Handshake, our career management system. Employers can post job and internship opportunities directly to Handshake, where they will be accessible to students and alumni. Handshake also allows you to review resumes of candidates who meet your employment criteria, making it an efficient way to connect with highly qualified talent. With frequent student and alumni engagement, Handshake is the most effective platform to maximize your reach and find the right candidates.

Information Table
Hosting an information table is a great way for companies and organizations to showcase their brand and connect directly with UMES students. Tables can be set up in the Student Services Center, a central and highly trafficked location on campus. This service is complimentary but is exclusively available to employers with active Handshake accounts. Reserve your table today to make your brand stand out!
Information Session / Meet and Greet
Host an information session or meet-and-greet to connect directly with UMES students while showcasing your organization. Use this opportunity to highlight career opportunities, share insights about your company culture, outline available roles, and explain your hiring process. Whether held in person or virtually, information sessions are an excellent way to engage with top talent and build your brand on campus. On-Campus Interviews
On-campus interviews (OCI) offer employers a convenient way to connect with UMES students for internships, part-time, and full-time employment opportunities. Interviews typically take place between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with flexible scheduling options:
- Open schedules: Allow qualified students to select interview slots on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Session Intervals: Recruiters can choose 30, 45, or 60-minute interview sessions.
- Capacity: Recruiters can conduct up to 13 interviews per schedule, and we can accommodate up to six recruiters per day.
- Recruiting Period: OCI is available during peak recruiting periods—mid-September through December and February through April.
- Advance Notice: Recruiters must schedule campus visits at least one month in advance to allow us adequate time to publicize your event to the campus community.
- Advertisement: To assist with the promotion of your career opportunity, you are encouraged to create a 2–3-minute promotional video that can be shared with students and faculty, but fliers are also acceptable.
