Department of the Built Environment Scholarship Information
Title: The Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To support annual scholarships to upper level Construction Management/ Technology students who demonstrate outstanding potential al for leadership and service and have financial need.
Requirements:
- Completed freshman and sophomore year requirements as a Construction
- Management/Technology major
- A letter of application.
- Three recommendations, at least one being from a Construction Management/Technology
- Faculty member
- A legal resident of Baltimore Metropolitan area
- Unmet financial needs documented by the Office of Financial Aid

Title: The J. Vinton Schafer Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To support an annual scholarship to upper level Construction Management/Technology students who demonstrate outstanding potential for leadership and service.
Requirements:
- Junior or Senior Construction Management/Technology major
- Letter of application.
- Legal resident of Maryland
- Three letters of recommendation, at least one being from Construction
- Management/Technology Faculty
- Demonstrate financial need documented by Financial Aid
Title: The Eastern Shore Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Charles Milton Espenshade Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To support an annual scholarship to upper level Construction Management/Technology students who demonstrate outstanding potential for leadership and service.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of freshman and sophomore years by a Construction
- Management/Technology major
- Letter of application.
- 3 Three letters of recommendation, at least one being from Construction
- Management/Technology Faculty.
- Resident of the Delmarva Peninsula
- Unmet financial need documented by Financial Aid
Title: The Michael G. Callas Endowed Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To support annual scholarships to Junior and Senior level Construction Management/Technology students.
Requirements:
- Junior or Senior level Construction Management Technology major.
- Letter of application.
- GPA 2.5 or higher
- Legal resident of the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractor’s service area.
- Three recommendations.
- Unmet financial need documented by Financial Aid Office.
Title: The Richard H. Thomas Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide annual scholarship support for new or currently enrolled students in the Department of the Built Environment at UMES who intend to enter the teaching profession and who meet the criteria for the award.
Requirements:
- Recommended by high school counselor or UMES family member
- 2.5 GPA or higher
Title: The Construction Management Endowment
Purpose: To provide funds to support the Construction Management Technology Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore by supplementing the operating budget in the following categories: instruction materials and equipment, program promotion, faculty development and student recruitment.
Requirements: The Department of the Built Environment Chairperson shall administer the Fund and make decisions with regard to how the funds will be used, after consultation with the Construction Management Advisory Council.
Title: The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide funds to support scholarships for students in the Construction Management Technology Program.
Requirements: Need based scholarship at the discretion of the Department Chair.
Title: The Col. Ralph L. Hodge, Mrs. Julia A. Hodge & Family Endowed
Purpose: To provide funds to support scholarships for students in the Construction Management Technology Program.
Requirements:
- Student in Construction Management Technology.
- Minimum 3.0 G.P.A.
Title: The Roger R. Blunt Construction Management Endowed Fund
Purpose: Provide funds to support Construction Management Technology Programs at UMES for student scholarships, departmental funds for excellence and recruiting, establishment and support of an endowed chair
Requirements: Determined by the Endowment Fund Selection Committee, Dean of the School of Business and Technology, Chair of CMT Department CMT faculty member and a member from CMT Advisory Council
Title: Winchester Homes Endowment
Purpose: To Support Scholarships for UMES Students in Construction Management
Requirements: Construction Management Technology Student
Title: Rooney D. Spencer Endowed Scholarship
Purpose: To provide funds to support need and merit based scholarships for students in the Construction Management Technology Program
Requirements: Construction Management Technology Student
Title: First Shore Federal Construction Management Program Scholarship
Purpose: To provide funds to support scholarships for students in the Construction Management Technology Program who have transferred from Wor-Wic Community College and demonstrate financial need.
Requirements: Construction Management Technology Transfer Student from Wor-Wic Community College who demonstrates a financial need.
