Reproductive Health Services

Students may access reproductive health services through the Charles R. Drew Student Health Center on campus. Available services include consultation, STI testing, pregnancy testing, and prescriptions for FDA-approved contraception and emergency contraception.

STI testing and treatment.

The Student Health Center provides STI testing and treatment by appointment. To schedule an appointment for testing or treatment, use appointmenthealthcenter@umes.edu

HIV testing is offered through Student Health and weekly on campus through Somerset County Health Department Staff at the SSC. Students in need of HIV care are referred to the local health department for management. 

Contraception 

Emergency contraception (myWay) is currently available through the health center. Other options for obtaining EC, including after-hours, are local pharmacies such as CVS and the Somerset County Health Department. Upcoming plans include availability through the Office and Residence Life and a stand-alone vending machine to provide 24/7 access.(pending Fall 2024 installation) The student health center does not provide fertility services, abortion services, or pregnancy health care. Condoms are available free of charge to students at several locations on campus including residential hall, ATOD and student health. 

Health Education

Sexual Health Peer Educators are housed in the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) office and are available for presentations and prevention events.  Students may request services through ATOD at x6385.

Transportation services are available to the campus community through Shore Transit.  Students ride free with ID.
