Welcome to the School of Education, Social Sciences and the Arts (SESA) at the University of MD Eastern Shore. SESA houses six academic departments offering undergraduate and graduate degrees including two doctoral programs in Education Leadership and Organizational Leadership. SESA also offers an Upper Level Certificate in Special Education.
No matter what your career aspirations may be, the courses and programs we offer provide the foundation of a liberal arts education and emphasize its relevance in today’s ever-changing world. Maybe you were one of the best students in your high school class, and maybe you weren’t. What’s most important from our perspective is your commitment to academic success now and in the future. If you have that commitment, UMES can take you as far as you want to go. Our programs challenge our students to become critical thinkers, creative artists, problem solvers and global citizens committed to diversity and social engagement. Our faculty and staff advise and mentor students all along their academic journey, exposing them to the limitless possibilities the power of their education has.
I want to encourage you to explore the websites of the departments in SESA–Criminal Justice, Education, English and Modern Languages, Fine Arts, Math, and Social Sciences—and read about the accomplishments of our faculty and students. Do more than imagine. Instead, “soar above and beyond” with a degree from SESA.
As dean, I always welcome the opportunity to speak to students and parents about the programs, lectures, exhibits, field trips and other activities that take place regularly on our campus, many of which are sponsored
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Harrington, MA, MEd, MFA
