The university will be moving to Workday Financials, Human Resources (HCM) and Student Administration over the next few years. The move will modernize our enterprise software systems and enable us to more effectively manage the administrative functions of the university. All students, faculty, and staff will be utilizing the new systems as there is a heavy emphasis on self-service functionality.

This project, known as the Elevate Program, is being done in conjunction with University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland’s Center for Environmental Science, and the University of Maryland System Office. Together with Huron Consulting Group, the Elevate Program will engage the entire user community to ensure Workday supports the complex work of a leading research university.

Project Goals

  1. Make the university more efficient and effective through simplified and streamlined key business processes.
  2. Provide a positive user experience for students, staff, and faculty.
  3. Allow the university to accurately collect, report, and analyze data important for decision-making.
  4. Ensure data security and privacy and meet all regulatory, compliance, and accreditation needs.
  5. Ensure that our ERP systems are reliable and can be easily maintained and updated.

Project timeline

The project will take a total of 5 years to complete. Phase I includes Finance (replacement for Kuali Financial Systems) and Human Capital Management or HCM (replacement for PHR and eTerp). Phase II will include Student Administration. Student Administration (replaces Hawkweb or PeopleSoft) includes admissions, financial aid, registration/records, advising, and student accounts. Student administration will begin in 2023 and will be fully functional in Fall 2026.
