Patrons MUST present and leave their Hawk ID card at the desk each time they enter the pool facility. Only UMES students, faculty, and staff are permitted to use the Aquatics facility.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore assumes no liability for injuries or damages arising from the results of participation. Due to the strenuous nature of some activities, patrons are advised to consult his/her physician concerning fitness to participate. All activities present certain inherent risks and hazards, which the participant assumes.
Any injury occurring in the aquatic facility must be reported to the pool management immediately.
Admittance into the facility may be refused when the capacity of the pool has been reached (e.g., 25 patrons per lifeguard) or when otherwise deemed necessary for the health, welfare, or safety of patrons.
For your safety, all bodily excretions are handled following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines and may require closing the pool for a specified period of time or for the remainder of the day to properly disinfect.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property within the pool facility. Patrons must lock all of their belongings in a locker. Valuables may not be left with the aquatic staff.
Pool schedules are posted and available upon request and are subject to change based on lifeguard availability and when there are events in Hytche. The aquatic director reserves the right to alter any schedule when deemed necessary.
Activity for private gain: coaching, training or working out with another individual or group of individuals, unless during an approved coaching session is not allowed.
The use of the pool for training and rehabilitation may only be done under the guidance of a licensed physical trainer employed by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
The aquatic director and their designated staff have the authority to enforce all pool rules. Patrons are requested to cooperate in observing all policies that are outlined in this document and posted in the pool area.
No one will be allowed jn the aquatic facility unless the pool is officially open and the lifeguards are on duty.
The aquatic staff are the only authorized persons allowed in the lifeguard office, filter room, and chemical room.
Unauthorized use of photography/videography is not permitted during recreational swim.
The use of any electronic devices such as earbuds, headphones are prohibited in the pool. The use of cell phones, cameras, video cameras, or any device containing camera equipment of any kind is prohibited in the locker rooms and in the bathrooms.
Patrons who violate these rules may be asked to leave and Campus Police will be contacted as needed and possible sanctions may incur through the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
