While it was cold and drizzly outside, the members of the group Models Collective were scorching hot as they participated in a photo shoot donning fashion featuring the new logo of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, unveiled last summer as part of the institution’s rebrand.
The shoot took place inside the new Pharmacy and Health Professions Building, which will officially have a grand opening later this spring.
“It took about three weeks to put this together,” said Vernon Lyles, a senior rehabilitation services major and one of the members of the Models Collective. “This is probably one of our biggest shoots and we’re really grateful and honored to be a part of this amazing experience.”
Close to a dozen members of the organization participated in the shoot, wearing colorful variations of the logo going beyond the traditional maroon and grey and including white and black t-shirts.
Senior criminal justice major Khalisha Heyward said she was a big fan of both the new design and the facility.
“It’s been interesting to see the new building,” she said. “And I like the new hawk. I think that it’s new and improved and we’re a new school and an improved school, so we need a logo to match.”
Lyles said that the work that went into having the photo shoot go off flawlessly was a huge relief.
“I think that this experience was really nice,” he said. “I look forward to doing this more often because it gives us more of a chance to interact with students and interact with faculty and staff and also put a name out for ourselves.”
