PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Representatives from IBM recently visited the campus looking for qualified candidates for positions in accounting, computer science and sales.
“University of Maryland Eastern Shore students were well prepared, with strong grade point averages and work experience through internships, and demonstrated an interest in being employed at IBM,” said William R. Lawrence, senior diversity staffing program manager, Global Talent Program, for IBM.
During his visit, Lawrence and his IBM colleagues met with UMES faculty, staff and some 30 students. He gave the faculty an overview about his company and what attributes and skills IBM is looking for in prospective employees.
IBM seeks students who are interested in sales positions in the Mid-Atlantic area, computer science graduates who are willing to relocate to other parts of the country and qualified applicants with an excellent understanding of accounting fundamentals who are interested to relocating to New York, Connecticut or Rochester, MN.
“We are interested at IBM in developing a relationship with UMES,” said Lawrence. “We hope to award more job opportunities to qualified students for full-time employment as well as offering summer intern and cooperative assignments.
