PRINCESS ANNE, MD – A new professional has joined the Division of Institutional Advancement at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Paul Butler has been named major gifts officer.

Butler comes to UMES from WBOC/Fox 21 in Salisbury, where he was most recently the sports director.  Butler grew up in Salisbury and is a graduate of Salisbury University.

It was Butler’s familiarity with the community, his experience with fundraising and profound understanding of philanthropy that attracted the attention of UMES Development Director Veronique Diriker. “With his professionalism, Paul will represent UMES well to our donors,” Diriker said.

In his new position, Butler will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and stewarding major gift opportunities for the University, which is in the midst of its $14 million seven-year campaign.
