PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Stephanie Marie Braxton of Upper Marlboro, a recent graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, is a recipient of the 2007 Bailey White Jewelers Sportsmanship Award.
The Honorable Frank and Mrs. Melissa White are loyal friends of the university and have gifted its administration, faculty and students with their time, talent and assets. The Bailey White Jewelers Sportsmanship Award was established in 2005 for the purpose of recognizing and rewarding sportsmanlike behavior in Hawk athletes on and off the playing field.
“We are part of the community, we have a business in Princess Anne and we are a neighbor to UMES,” said Princess Anne Town Commissioner White. “We want to always support the university, which is a big part of the community, and we encourage other businesses to take part in advancing the student’s education. They will get to meet great people when they become involved.”
Braxton is a 2003 graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. At UMES, she successfully matriculated through the General Honors Program, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. In addition to her performance as a scholar, she was honored for her sportsmanlike behavior on the UMES Women’s Volleyball Team.
