Transfer of Credit Appeals Form

Do not use this form if your transcript has not been reviewed by the Registrar’s Office, please use the Preliminary Credit Evaluation Request Form.

Students may appeal credit determinations by the Transfer of Credit Appeals Form. The Office of the Registrar will review the appeal and render a decision for general education courses. For non-general education courses, the Office of the Registrar will forward the appeal to the respective academic department for review and an articulation decision. In the event a consensus is not reached between the Registrar and Departmental review, the Office of the Provost will make the final decision regarding the awarding of credit. The decision will be communicated in writing by the Registrar to the student within ten business days after receipt of the appeal.

Please do not use this form if:

  • You are a current UMES student seeking approval to take courses elsewhere. Please view the Frequently Asked Questions section from the Academic Records & Registration Office.  If you have any questions regarding that process, please contact their office at ..........
  • You previously attended UMES and are planning to return. Readmission must be granted before credits will be evaluated. Please view the Readmission webpage from the Exploratory Studies & Academic Progress Office for further instructions. If you have any questions regarding readmission, please contact their office at............. 
  • You have attended an international university. Those credits are evaluated by the Global Engagement Office. Please contact them directly at ............. for credit evaluation assistance.
