Dr. Kate Brown is a tenured Professor and Interim Chair in the Department of Business, Management and Accounting at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She earned Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Administration, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Connecticut. She served as Chair of the Department of Business, Management and Accounting between 2007 and 2014, and Interim Dean of the School of Business and Technology between January of 2018 and September 2019. Prior to her appointment at UMES, Dr. Brown spent 17 years in New Zealand, where she was Head of the Department of Finance and Quantitative Analysis at the University of Otago in Dunedin. Her experiences in New Zealand included a five-year appointment on the New Zealand Commerce Commission. She has authored numerous publications in refereed journals. Her teaching and research interests include financial analysis, dividend policy, entrepreneurship, mergers, and public utility economics. She has recently published a financial management book, No Right Answers, Financial Decision Making in Context.
