PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Professor Everard Barrett, author of the Professor B methodology for mathematics education, demonstrates a proven method of teaching middle school mathematics during workshops sponsored by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore through Wednesday, February 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barrett is known nationally and internationally for designing a teacher’s method that awakens the mathematician in the youngest of learners. Rather than memorize, students taught with this method internalize mathematical information in much the same way they internalize the content of stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using the Professor B Math Program kindergarten and first graders children have mastered the lower\/higher addition\/subtraction facts and reading numbers in the hundreds of trillions (fifteen-digit numbers), second graders have mastered multiplication facts and long division, fifth graders master “seventh grade math,” fifth and sixth grade classes in the most disadvantaged communities outperform ninth graders on state exams. The program has consistently delivered substantial gains in math scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
