Frank Gordy Sr. award, DPI&#8217;s highest honor, which is presented to a chicken grower, farmer or businessman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green, who lives near Princess Anne, has served as chairman of the DPI Grower Committee and was 2003 DPI President. He remains on its board of directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green, who majored in general agriculture and studied under the late Harold Smith,&nbsp;has been&nbsp;growing chickens since 1977. In addition to raising chickens at historic Sandy Ridge Farm, which has been in his family since 1742,&nbsp;he&nbsp;grows corn, soybeans and small grains. He also manages the Atlantic Tractor store near Pocomoke City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While president, he led DPI&#8217;s efforts to become more active in legislative and community outreach programs. DPI hosted the National Chicken Cooking Contest in Baltimore during his year as president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green served on the Maryland Agricultural Commission and was chairman in parts of 2005-2007. It was during his leadership that the commission, at the request of former Maryland Gov.
