Bolden Jr., will deliver the commencement address and receive the university&#8217;s Presidential Medal for his service as a U.S. Marine and as an astronaut.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bolden, 65, is a retired two-star U.S. Marine Corps general and NASA&#8217;s 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Administrator.\u00a0 His 34-year military career included 14 years in NASA&#8217;s Astronaut Office.\u00a0Bolden flew\u00a0on four space shuttle missions between 1986 and 1994 and commanded two &#8211; one to deploy the Hubble Space Telescope and the first joint U.S.-Russian mission.\u00a0 He was inducted in the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in May 2006 and is a recipient of the Defense Superior Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/Sam-Dapaah-761x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3592\" width=\"112\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/Sam-Dapaah-761x1024.jpg 761w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/Sam-Dapaah-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/Sam-Dapaah-768x1034.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/Sam-Dapaah.jpg 833w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 112px) 100vw, 112px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presidential medals will also be awarded to Dr. Samuel&nbsp;Kojo&nbsp;Dapaah, USAID Chief Technical Advisor to the Minister of Food and Agriculture, in Ghana, and actress Beverly Todd.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ator David Ogden&nbsp;Stiers&nbsp;will receive an honorary degree at UMES&#8217; commencement exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dapaah&#8217;s\u00a037-year career with the Ghanaian Civil Service included 15 years in leadership as director of policy planning, monitoring and evaluation and as chief director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.\u00a0 Before that, he served as senior advisor to five ministers of agriculture and was a researcher and lecturer at the University of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/BeverlyTodd06-A-745x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3593\" width=\"86\" height=\"118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/BeverlyTodd06-A-745x1024.jpg 745w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/BeverlyTodd06-A-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/BeverlyTodd06-A-768x1056.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/scm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/219\/2021\/09\/BeverlyTodd06-A.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 86px) 100vw, 86px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Todd won a People&#8217;s Choice Award and received four NAACP Image Award nominations for her work &#8211; the height of which was in the 70&#8217;s in films such as &#8220;the Lost Man,&#8221; and &#8220;They Call Me MISTER\u00a0Tibbs!&#8221; Most recently, she played Morgan Freeman&#8217;s wife in\u00a0&#8220;The Bucket List.&#8221;\u00a0She has also guest-starred in several TV-series such as &#8220;Criminal Minds,&#8221;
