PRINCESS ANNE, MD – New York Times bestselling author, educator and businessman Stedman Graham addresses a group of over 165 student leaders from more than 25 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and interested members of the community on Tuesday, May 26, at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Services Center theater at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.   A book signing follows the presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graham’s address focuses on his bestselling book “You Can Make It Happen: A Nine-Step Plan for Success.”   According to Graham, setting aside doubts and difficulties from one’s past and overcoming the negative effects of a poor self-image are important steps to gaining self-confidence, setting personal goals and accomplishing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Each of us has the ability to lead a dynamic life by pursuing our unique goals and dreams.  There are no limits to what you can accomplish when you know who you are,” said Graham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graham is the chairman and CEO of S. Graham and Associates, a management and marketing consulting company specializing in corporate and educational markets.  He presents training on the topics of maximizing leadership, achieving success, growing a business, embracing diversity, achieving optimal health and branding on the personal and professional levels.  He is the author of ten books, including two New York Times bestsellers.  His latest release is “Diversity:  Leaders not Labels.”   He has appeared on “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” “The Early Show,” “Larry King Live,” and others to feature his Nine-Step Success Process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mr. Graham’s visit to UMES to address black student leaders from HBCUs across the nation is particularly fitting and timely,” said James Lunnermon II, director, Student Activities, UMES.  “These are the leaders who will need to develop personal and professional skills to face the challenges they are likely to encounter.  With Mr. Graham’s address they should walk away with the motivation to make goals, which are keys to success, a top priority for them personally and for the organizations they represent.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speaking engagement and book signing are part of the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Student Leadership Institute being held at UMES May 25-June 1.  The program trains newly elected HBCU student leaders to be effective in their roles on their prospective campuses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
