Dr. Brian O. Clemmons was named the new Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Experience at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He started in the role on June 1.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is proud to announce that Dr. Brian O. Clemmons has been selected as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Experience (EMSE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hiring of Clemmons, who most recently served as Bowie State University\u2019s inaugural vice president for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs for the past eight years, follows a comprehensive national search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clemmons brings nearly 20 years of higher education experience, with a strong foundation in data-driven enrollment strategy and institutional leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis results speak for themselves,\u201d said UMES President Heidi M. Anderson<\/strong>. \u201cHe has led institutions to record-breaking enrollment milestones, including a first-year class of 1,200 students, enrollment growth to 6,400, a 38% increase in Hispanic student enrollment, and a 35% rise in graduate enrollment over four years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clemmons, who began in the role on June 1, currently serves on two national enrollment organizations and is known for leading high-performing teams through a collaborative, evidence-based approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He most recently partnered with his provost to achieve a 93% fall-to-spring retention rate for Spring 2025 – the highest for Bowie State since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added Dr. Anderson: \u201cI am confident Dr. Clemmons will build on our momentum and strengthen pathways for student access, success, and completion. As we continue to Soar Above and Beyond, I look forward to the contributions Dr. Clemmons will make to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clemmons holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University, a master\u2019s degree from North Carolina Central University, and a doctorate from the University of New England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
