Bell, has called upon one of her favorites, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, for a free performance for the community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group, which performed at the President&#8217;s inauguration in April 2013, returns to campus Saturday, Feb. 25.&nbsp; The performance is part of \u201cYoung, Gifted &amp; Black,\u201d a two-year tour visiting the nation&#8217;s Historically Black Colleges and Universities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of my fondest memories of my time living and working in Ohio was my association with the Dayton Dance Co.,\u201d Bell said. \u201cI am honored they are returning to UMES to share their talent with our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 7 p.m. performance is preceded by a 6 p.m. reception, both in the university&#8217;s Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts.&nbsp; The program consists of seven pieces that \u201ctranscend human boundaries through contemporary dance,\u201d said Debbie Blunden-Diggs, the dance company&#8217;s artistic director for the past decade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dayton Dance Company of Ohio is in its 49<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;year performing works by renowned African-American choreographers, said Walter Woods, chair of UMES&#8217; cultural affairs committee and coordinator for outreach and strategic initiatives.
