<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nPRINCESS ANNE, MD – Read “The Untelling,” by Tayari Jones and join a lively discussion during the fifth annual African American Read-In at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday, February 6, at 11 a.m. in the Student Services Center multipurpose room. President Thelma B. Thompson has chosen this year’s book and invites the community, along with UMES faculty, staff, and students, to be a part of an evolving, literary tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A native of Atlanta, GA, Jones centers her writing on the urban south. She has been named, by the “Atlanta Journal Constitution,” as “one of the best writers of her generation.” “The Untelling,” her second novel, was published in 2005 and is the story of a family struggling to overcome the aftermath of a fatal car accident. The book has earned Jones the Lillian C. Smith Award for New Voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
