{"id":8174,"date":"2021-10-06T11:09:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T15:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/sans\/?p=8174"},"modified":"2023-06-23T11:10:10","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T15:10:10","slug":"marsh-receives-distinguished-educator-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/sans\/sans-news-releases\/marsh-receives-distinguished-educator-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Marsh receives Distinguished Educator Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.umes.edu\/uploadedImages\/_WEBSITES\/SANS\/Content\/SANS_Monthly_Digest-6-2020\/Dr.2.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Lurline Marsh\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" title=\"Dr. Lurline Marsh\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Lurline Marsh<\/strong>\u00a0can be proudly counted among the recipients of the 2020 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Distinguished Educator Award.\u00a0 An outstanding professor of horticulture at UMES for the past 15 years, Marsh was honored at NACTA\u2019s 2020 virtual conference June 16-18.\u00a0 Prior to COVID-19, the conference was slated to be an in-person event at the New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award recognizes \u201cmeritorious service to NACTA and to higher education through teaching, educational research, and\/or administration.\u201d&nbsp; Nominees must have 10 or more years of service to higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDr. Marsh is deeply concerned&nbsp;about ensuring her students are successful. This is reflected&nbsp;in her daily interactions with students both within and outside the classroom. This award is truly a fitting national recognition for the professionalism of an outstanding instructor and we are very proud of her,\u201d said Dr. Moses T.
