The transfer process can also be used to remove a co-leaseholder that may come about with changes in a business partnership or family relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ALEI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdsg.umd.edu\/\">Maryland Sea Grant<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Maryland\u2019s Department of Natural Resources<\/a> teamed up to make available a shellfish aquaculture lease transfer <a href=\"https:\/\/umaglaw.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023_0419_Worksheet_FINAL_508.pdf\">fact sheet<\/a> to be used in conjunction with an <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1rJaWnjBRQA0YABMCs0vi-zG6d7MUf_Bv\/view\">online webinar recording<\/a>. The educational resources are intended to provide \u201chelpful, step-by-step\u201d information to assist leaseholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cThe ultimate goal is to help sustain Maryland\u2019s aquaculture industry,\u201d Cook said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cook supervises ALEI and Maryland Sea Grant legal policy fellows funded through a <a href=\"https:\/\/seagrant.noaa.gov\/\">NOAA Sea Grant<\/a>, one of which, Elissa Torres-Soto, worked closely with DNR to create the aquaculture lease materials. The current fellow, Ju-Ching Huang, is looking at legal and policy challenges for Maryland\u2019s developing land-based recirculating aquaculture system seafood industry in addition to investigating how climate change is impacting Maryland\u2019s coastal aquaculture industry.
