The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at 10789 Stewart Neck Road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UMES Small Farm Program is helping local farmers expand their opportunities by offering instruction about specialty herb gardening. The event is set to inform attendants of the many benefits herbs can provide and to provide a hands-on experience that will educate farmers about how to choose the best herbs to grow.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe herb garden will provide interested farmers with information on specialty herbs,\u201d stated UMES\u2019 Alternative Crop Specialist, Dr. Nadine Burton. \u201cSpecialty herbs have many benefits, in addition to providing more economic opportunities for those in the agriculture business.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registrants can expect to receive lessons on 13 herbs that are currently in high demand. Instructors will provide information on plant origins, medicinal properties, production practices and marketing. Subsequently, farmers will be welcome to visit the specialty herb garden on the Demonstration Farm at their convenience.&nbsp; In addition, to learning the growth habits and management practices of the herbs, growers will be linked with potential markets. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cost is $20 per participant.
