PRINCESS ANNE, MD \u2013 (September 27, 2019) \u2013 A medicinal herb workshop is slated for Saturday, November 16, at the Caroline County 4-H Youth Park, 8230 Detour Rd., in Denton, Md.  Limited to 25 attendees, the event begins at 10 a.m. with registration at 9:30 a.m.  The cost is $14.50 per person, which includes materials and lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGrowing Medicinal Herbs\u201d is the workshop title.  Topics to be covered include:  Sourcing Certified Seed, Production Standards and Practices, Complying with Good Agriculture Standards and Practices, and Why and How the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) Will Apply to You.  Presenters are Erroll Mattox, UMES Extension; Nicole Cook, an environmental and agricultural faculty legal specialist for the Agriculture Law Education Initiative (ALEI); and Angela Ferelli, University of Maryland food safety specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe demand for domestically grown medicinal herbs is increasing,\u201d Mattox said. \u201cAt the same time, the requirements to produce a safe, clean and verifiable product is increasing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
