Anderson<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching, research and outreach remain the bedrock of\u00a0our 1890 land-grant mission. Even in turbulent times,\u00a0the University of Maryland Eastern Shore stands firm in its\u00a0commitment to serve the Eastern Shore, Maryland and our\u00a0national partners with excellence and purpose.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite challenging financial landscapes and shifting\u00a0federal priorities, UMES continues to take a forward-looking,\u00a0strategic approach to ensure stability and growth. This\u00a0fall, we celebrated our fifth consecutive year of enrollment\u00a0gains \u2014 a powerful testament to the exceptional teaching,\u00a0innovative programs and high-impact research that define\u00a0our campus community.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are especially excited about the forthcoming Agricultural\u00a0Research &amp; Education Center, a transformative investment\u00a0that will strengthen the School of Agricultural and Natural\u00a0Sciences and expand our capacity to support Maryland\u2019s\u00a0agricultural communities. This new center will accelerate\u00a0discovery, enhance experiential learning and promote\u00a0research innovations that directly benefit growers, producers\u00a0and families across the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, UMES continues to advance a landmark\u00a0initiative: the establishment of the first School of Veterinary\u00a0Medicine in the state of Maryland. We are preparing to host\u00a0the American Veterinary Medical Association\u2019s Council on\u00a0Education for a comprehensive site visit in June 2026 \u2014 an\u00a0important milestone on our pathway toward accreditation\u00a0and the development of a diverse, highly trained veterinary\u00a0workforce for Maryland and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of this progress would be possible without the\u00a0steadfast support of our many partners. We extend our\u00a0profound appreciation to the Maryland General Assembly\u00a0and to our federal partners \u2014 including the USDA, NOAA\u00a0and NSF \u2014 as well as the private entities and stakeholders\u00a0who champion our mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UMES takes pride in accelerating student success, advancing\u00a0research and deepening our community impact. With so many\u00a0good things happening at UMES, I hope you find the stories in\u00a0this issue of Ingenuity both inspiring and worth sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Heidi M.
