The School of Graduate Studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is pleased to announce its tenth annual Graduate Education Week and 15th<\/sup> Annual Research Symposium to be held on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. The theme of this year\u2019s symposium is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examining the Impacts of Generative AI on Education, Research, and Society<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of this year\u2019s research symposium seeks to examine our use of generative AI. As we are well aware, artificial intelligence is already part of our daily lives, whether we like it or not. We see its pervasiveness in many spheres of our daily lives, from the domestic (smart appliances, home security systems, music and entertainment devices, etc.) to the scholarly and professional (editing software, AI chatbots, transportation and logistics, medical diagnosis\/charting, etc.), and even the social (media).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s call for proposals asks you to consider not only when you use AI, especially generative AI, but why you use it and to what effect. How does its use (or non-use) benefit you as a student, educator, researcher, or professional? Will the use of generative AI contribute to the development and progress of society, not just now, but on a larger scale as measured across time and the existence of humanity? Therefore, this year\u2019s primary thematic question is: In what ways have you used AI to benefit society?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We invite researchers from all disciplines to share and celebrate their work at the 2026 research symposium. We look forward to your participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
