Dr. H\u00e9ctor Jos\u00e9 Vel\u00e1zquez-Gonz\u00e1lez<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

H\u00e9ctor Jos\u00e9 Vel\u00e1zquez Gonz\u00e1lez is from Ponce, Puerto Rico.\u00a0His academic-professional training is from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR) where he obtained a doctorate in Philosophy in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s degree in Social Sciences with a specialty in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences of Education with a specialty in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. He has experience as an Associate Professor teaching psychiatric rehabilitation, human development, statistics, physiological psychology, research techniques, and supervising internships at the graduate level, among others. Also, he has experience as a clinical psychologist\u00a0with a specialty in trauma interventions, and as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. As an educator, he\u00a0embraces a professional and social responsibility of creating spaces that challenge students to potentiate their development at different execution levels, motivating them\u00a0to engage in self-directed learning, critical thinking, and intellectual and social curiosity that triggers a supplementary exploration.\u00a0His research interest is in the prevention of suicidal behavior and in psychosocial aspects of chronic illness and disabilities. Also, he stands out as a speaker at national and international events and in academic activities in university and professional spaces in Puerto Rico, Colombia, El Salvador, Milan, Lisbon, Rome, and Mexico. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, such as Duazary, Pensando Psicolog\u00eda, and Informes Psicol\u00f3gicos. Recently, he is the author and co-author of several publications and books, for example, the book Suicide and other self-destructive behaviors in college students in Colombia and Puerto Rico: actions, interactions, and meanings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
