Santos Rom\u00e1n, PhD., CRC., LGPC \u00a0is from Caguas, Puerto Rico. She is an Associate Professor and Clinical Coordinator at UMES Rehabilitation Counseling Program. She joined UMES after completing a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Disability Policy at the University of Florida.\u00a0Dr. Santos Roman received a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counselor Education at the University of Iowa with a minor in Consultation. She has a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Psychology and a master&#8217;s in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.\u00a0 She had over 13 years of clinical experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor working with diverse populations, including domestic violence survivors, injured workers, immigrant workers, veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), and individuals with neuropsychological disorders. She has been involved in several research initiatives in the VA that identify, develop, and test strategies for improving veteran rehabilitation services and long-term support for veterans with disabilities and their families. She has published and presented multicultural competencies and training, ethical decisions working with minorities, health disparities, veterans housing accessibility, and disability policy, in addition, to being a PI and CoPI in some grants in a related area.\u00a0Dr. Santos Roman&#8217;s research interest focus on counselor competencies and multicultural approaches, health disparities, Trauma Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, return to work, and employment outcomes for people with disabilities. Her goal as a researcher and educator is to improve the educational training of counselors and health professionals, improve service provision for people with disabilities, and the administration of social justice actions towards minorities and disadvantaged populations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leslie M.
