{"id":1841,"date":"2021-10-24T12:38:50","date_gmt":"2021-10-24T16:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pt\/?page_id=1841"},"modified":"2021-10-29T14:35:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T18:35:11","slug":"interprofessional-laboratory-activity","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pt\/the-program\/interprofessional-laboratory-activity\/","title":{"rendered":"Interprofessional Laboratory Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3rd year Doctor of Physical Therapy students participate in an annual Interprofessional Laboratory Activity. &nbsp;The interactive clinical laboratory activity brings approximately 90 students together, including UMES Physical Therapy and Pharmacy students and students from the Salisbury University Nursing and Respiratory Therapy programs. &nbsp;The activity requires the students to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Describe the various professional roles and responsibilities of each health care professional;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Perform select interventions utilizing role playing of patient case studies;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Describe the optimization of patient management via interprofessional collaboration. &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The activities are coordinated by UMES DPT faculty member Dennis Klima, PT, PhD, GCS, NCS, renowned physical therapist Jennifer Zanni, PT, MS, DScPT &nbsp;from Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, and Salisbury University Nursing and Respiratory Therapy faculty members.<br><br>Students are able to create a mock intensive care unit to facilitate interaction among all health disciplines.
