<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nPRINCESS ANNE, MD—Scott Landon Mays, a recent graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, is the recipient of the 2007 Daniel J. Pinkett Award in Mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mays, son of Lynn D. Brooks-Mays of Philadelphia, PA, graduated cum laude<\/em> with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. A 2003 graduate of the World Communications Charter School and an honors student at the university, he served as a supplementary instructor in the university’s Math and Science Club. For every year from 2003-07, he was honored for academic excellence by the School of Business and Technology and for 2006-07 he was honored by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Pinkett Award, a gift of $1,500, is given to a graduating mathematics major who has excelled in the field. The award was established by Alice B. Macleod in honor of the memory of Professor Daniel J. Pinkett, who taught mathematics under the leadership of Frank J.
