 PRINCESS ANNE-Dr. Ernest Satchell, chairman of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, was recently appointed to serve as a member of the State of Maryland Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for commission district one encompassing Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.  He will serve a 3-year term beginning January 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            As a member of the commission, he will perform the duties associated with screening judges and forwarding the names of those recommended for consideration to serve in a judicial office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

            “I will do all that I can to assure that qualified, unbiased judges are nominated,” said Satchell.  “Diversity is important as well as selecting candidates that will be objective in their decision making and recommendations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
