The University of Maryland Eastern Shore\u2019s Walter Woods<\/strong> has been selected to participate in the Leadership Maryland program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woods, UMES\u2019 Coordinator for Outreach and Strategic Initiatives, is one of 53 members chosen for the organization\u2019s 33rd<\/sup> class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am humbled and honored to be selected for this opportunity to elevate my leadership knowledge, skill, and ability,\u201d said Woods, a 1991 UMES graduate. \u201cLeadership Maryland will provide an opportunity for exposure, education, and creating and engaging new connections and bringing this institution to a broader audience, showcasing the talent that resides within.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will run from April to December, and include five, two-day sessions focused on Maryland\u2019s five main geographic regions and the most vital issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multiculturalism\/diversity across the state. More than 100 experts representing Maryland\u2019s business, government, education, and nonprofit communities will serve as panelists and guest speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive program is open to senior-level executives with significant achievements in their careers and\/or their communities. Ideal Leadership Maryland members have a desire to learn more about Maryland\u2019s most critical issues and a personal commitment to be a force for positive change in their organizations, their communities, and their state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWelcoming a new cohort to our flagship Executive Program is always a highlight of our year, and the Class of 2026 is truly exceptional,” said David Fike,<\/strong> president and CEO of Leadership Maryland. “Selection for this program is incredibly competitive, and these leaders stood out not just for what they\u2019ve already achieved, but for their genuine commitment to shaping a better future for Maryland. We can\u2019t wait to see how they challenge each other and grow together to drive meaningful change across our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion of the program, Woods will join President Heidi M. Anderson<\/strong>, Chief of Staff & Vice President of Presidential Strategy, Latoya Jenkins<\/strong>, Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, Tara Owens<\/strong>, and UMES professor Dr. Madhumi Mitra<\/strong> as the most recent UMES graduates from the influential program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
