Dr. Miller began his role December 2025 and will be responsible for leading the development of the School\u2019s research enterprise, including research infrastructure planning, compliance oversight, and the expansion of strategic research partnerships.<br><br>Dr. Miller brings nearly 30 years of experience in research administration, with particular expertise in infrastructure development and operational leadership. Since 2000, he has served within the Mount Sinai Health System, including the past 11 years in senior roles at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He has also served as the Dean for Research Operations and Infrastructure at the Icahn School of Medicine.\u00a0<br><br>\u201cI am very excited to be part of UMES\u2019 effort to create new opportunities that address the lack of diversity and growing need for veterinarians in the workforce,\u201d Dr. Miller said. \u201cI especially look forward to mentoring the next generation of veterinary research professionals.\u201d<br><br>Earlier in his career, Dr. Miller served as Section Veterinary Medicine Chief at Columbia University\u2019s Institute of Comparative Medicine and held veterinary consulting roles with Fordham University, the New York City Department of Health, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and Purdue Pharmaceuticals. At Mount Sinai, he has also served as co-chair of several institutional committees and has held the role of Senior Research Integrity Officer since 2008.<br><br>\u201cDr. Miller brings exceptional expertise in research operations and a proven commitment to expanding scientific discovery,\u201d said Dr. <strong>Stanley Robertson<\/strong>, Dean of the UMES School of Veterinary Medicine. \u201cHis leadership will be instrumental in building a strong research foundation that supports faculty excellence, student engagement, and the School\u2019s mission to serve Maryland and the broader veterinary community.\u201d<br><br>Dr. Miller earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Tuskegee University in 1982 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University\u2019s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.
