Jenkins and Mitra were two of 51 selected to participate in the eight-month hands-on learning program.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two University of Maryland Eastern Shore staff members recently graduated from the Leadership Maryland program, which consists of more than 1,600 leaders from all industries throughout the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UMES Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, <strong>Latoya Jenkins<\/strong>, and Dr. <strong>Madhumi Mitra<\/strong>, a full professor in the Department of Natural Sciences, completed the program that culminated with a Dec. 2 graduation ceremony in Annapolis. Jenkins and Mitra were two of 51 selected to participate in the eight-month hands-on learning program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOn behalf of our staff, board, and membership, I congratulate the Executive Program Class of 2025 and Emerging Leader 2nd Class on their incredible achievement,\u201d said <strong>David Fike<\/strong>, President and CEO, Leadership Maryland. \u201cThe graduates of both programs have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth, and I am confident they will continue to drive meaningful change in their communities and across Maryland as part of our alumni network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the most recent class, Jenkins and Mitra participated in an orientation and closing retreat that bookended five, two-day sessions focused on Maryland\u2019s five main geographic regions and the most vital issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multiculturalism\/diversity across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 100 experts representing Maryland\u2019s business, government, education, and non-profit communities served as panelists and guest speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Executive Program is open to senior-level executives with significant achievements in their careers and\/or their communities. Ideal Leadership Maryland members have a desire to learn more about Maryland\u2019s most critical issues and a personal commitment to be a force for positive change in their organizations, their communities, and their state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jenkins and Mitra join President <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/anderson-earns-leadership-maryland-credential\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1667\">Heidi M.
