Anderson<\/strong> was recently recognized by the Maryland Daily Record in its Power List profile featuring members of higher education throughout the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the honor, Dr. Anderson was one of three HBCU representatives in Maryland interviewed for the publication centering on \u201cpresidents and administrators who are leading their colleges and universities, policymakers charting a course for the future, advocates striving to improve access and equity and faculty members faculty members on the cutting edge of research and the liberal arts,\u201d according to the Daily Record editor <strong>Thomas Baden Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey are helping guide their institutions in the ever-changing field of education. They are working for or with programs that aim to bring new technology or change to the region,\u201d Baden added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The publication highlighted Dr. Anderson\u2019s recent accomplishments including her ascension to the role of <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/university-of-maryland-eastern-shore-president-heidi-m-anderson-elected-chair-of-aascu-board-of-directors\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"13832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chair of the American Association of State Colleges and University\u2019s board of directors<\/a> as well as her memberships on the boards of the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities, the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, and the Rural Maryland Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other accolades during her tenure include the graduation of the first cohort of its <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/were-essentially-the-trailblazers\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"13951\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new physician assistant program<\/a> and the construction of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions Building, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/a-labor-of-love\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14369\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">which opened this sprin<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/a-labor-of-love\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"14369\">g<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another accolade was UMES <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pr\/umes-ranked-16th-among-hbcus-in-u-s-news-world-reports-survey\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"13661\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reaching No. 16 in the U.S. News and World Report\u2019s survey<\/a>, the third consecutive year the institution increased its status, which is a continual step towards the goal of becoming a Top 10-ranked HBCU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the profile, Anderson shares some of her thoughts on the biggest challenge facing higher education.
