(TEDCO) to design leadership programs specifically for women to help them become successful entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TEDCO, Maryland\u2019s economic engine for technology companies, said the programs \u201care designed to build an alliance of diverse founders and CEOs\u201d to nurture \u201centrepreneurial innovation.\u201d&nbsp; Maryland\u2019s four historically Black institutions will contribute to that expertise by collaborating on strategies to create \u201ca diversified community of women entrepreneurs and help them grow their companies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partnership comes at an opportune time for UMES; the university earlier this year named Dr. Pamela Allison to a new faculty position \u2013 the Endowed Chair and Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship and Program Innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is such an honor to represent the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on this initiative spearheaded by TEDCO,\u201d Allison said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere are many programs for (business) startups,\u201d she said, \u201cbut the growth phase is often overlooked by formal programs.&nbsp; Here (at UMES) we offer mentorship and access to capital for women owned businesses already in operation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Linda Singh, executive director for TEDCO&#8217;s Women Entrepreneur Leadership, said &#8220;using the input from TEDCO&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;amp;l=en&amp;amp;o=3482031-1&amp;amp;h=7408019&amp;amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tedcomd.com%2Fnews-events%2Fpress-releases%2F2019%2Ftedcos-task-force-women-entrepreneurs&amp;amp;a=Task%2BForce%2Bfor%2BWomen%2BEntrepreneurs\">Task Force for Women Entrepreneurs<\/a> to develop the course foundation, we were able to create a one-of-a-kind program focusing on mitigating challenges Black women entrepreneurs face.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The leadership program kicks off with a pilot program at the Maryland Innovation Center in Howard County.
