Dr. Robert C. Mock Jr, chief of staff to President Heidi M. Anderson, joins his boss in completing the eight-month program \u201copen to senior-level executives with significant achievements in either their careers and\/or their communities.\u201d Anderson is a 2019 graduate of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mock was part of the 28th<\/sup> group of participants in the \u201chands-on learning program\u201d that focuses \u201con Maryland\u2019s five main geographic regions and \u2026 vital issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multi-culturalism\/diversity across the state.\u201d He joined UMES’ administration three years ago this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leadership Maryland is \u201cdedicated to building a better Maryland by harnessing the strength of its local business and community leaders\u201d through a series of five, two-day workshops along with an orientation program and closing retreat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mock was initially among 49 applicants selected for the \u201cClass of 2020,\u201d which was sidelined for a year because of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith the events of the past two years, our communities greatly need connectedness, shared vision, and resilient leadership, which makes our mission of empowering a diverse network of local leaders more important than ever,\u201d said Ren\u00e9e M. Winsky, Leadership Maryland\u2019s president and chief executive officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith the understanding, connections, and clarity of purpose gained from their program experience,\u201d Winsky said, \u201cthe 49 members of the Class of 2021 are now better poised to make a positive impact, and we look forward to seeing all they\u2019ll accomplish for our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leadership Maryland launched in 1993 as a professional development program with the goal of identifying business and civic leaders who have \u201ca desire to learn more about Maryland\u2019s most critical issues and a personal commitment to be a force for positive change in their organizations, their communities, and their state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The organization scheduled what it calls a graduation event for Dec. 7 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport in Linthicum Heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n About Leadership Maryland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Each year, as many as 52 diverse and accomplished executives from Maryland\u2019s public and private sectors are selected to come together as a class focused on the state\u2019s most vital social, economic and environmental issues.
