{"id":1348,"date":"2021-09-08T15:52:18","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T19:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pharmd\/?page_id=1348"},"modified":"2022-03-03T14:50:27","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T18:50:27","slug":"become-a-preceptor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pharmd\/become-a-preceptor\/","title":{"rendered":"Become a Preceptor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Become a Preceptor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome pharmacists interested in working with the University Of Maryland Eastern Shore School Of Pharmacy (UMES SOP) to contribute to the education of our future pharmacists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) mandates that each school of pharmacy screen preceptors and sites to ensure quality experiences for student pharmacists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UMES School of Pharmacy requires the following of all Preceptors:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Licensed and in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy.<\/li><li>Pharmacy practice experience, full-time, for at least one year.<\/li><li>Commitment to helping students develop life-long learning, service to the community and service to others in the profession of pharmacy.<\/li><li>Disposition to work with students by demonstrating and teaching the profession.<\/li><li>Willingness to assist students in achieving rotation objectives.<\/li><li>Agreement to complete evaluations and other grading in a timely manner, via UMES SOP tools.<\/li><li>Willingness to work with diverse populations.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you are interested in becoming a UMES SOP preceptor, please submit a Preceptor Application (click <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/pharmd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/97\/2021\/09\/UMES-Preceptor-Application-1-5-16.pdf\">here<\/a> to download the .pdf) and we will contact you shortly to discuss the program.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For additional information on becoming a preceptor for the UMES SOP, please contact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kawanda Mc Carthy Williams, PharmD<br>Assistant Dean for Experiential Education<br>Email: <a href=\"mailto:tdavid@umes.edu\">kmwilliams3@umes.edu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How To Become a Preceptor We welcome pharmacists interested in working with the University Of Maryland Eastern Shore School Of Pharmacy (UMES SOP) to contribute to the education of our future pharmacists.
