Personnel assigned to sponsored projects, like all other personnel, must be appointed and compensated in keeping with State and University personnel rules. Classified staff matters are covered by the Office of Human Resources. Faculty and associate staff policies are covered in the Faculty handbook; questions may be addressed to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Government regulations (OMB A-21) require that the University maintain records that will substantiate the effort of each individual charged to a sponsored project. Therefore, time records must be carefully maintained.
Personnel activity survey forms are distributed to each P.I. three times a year by OSRP. Since the majority of costs associated with sponsored projects are attributable to labor charges, it is incumbent upon the University to assure that these records are properly maintained
