Ruiz-Ramos<\/strong> is an assistant professor of Environmental Sciences in the Department of Natural Sciences, University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Ruiz-Ramos has a Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied the genetic connectivity of deep-sea black corals in the Gulf of Mexico. As a postdoctoral scholar with the UC Conservation Genomics Consortium at the University of California, Merced, she used genomics to study Sea Star Wasting Disease and environmental DNA (eDNA) to characterize biodiversity in California\u2019s coast and vernal pools.
