Amira worked under Dr. Joey Reustle, where she looked at the occurrence of microplastics and examined the impacts it had on oyster reefs. The overall goal of the research was to further the limited knowledge that the scientific community possessed on the impacts of plastic pollution on aquatic ecosystems.
