Joe Day Jr. received his B.S. in Marine Science in Spring 2021. His undergraduate research focused on microplastics in estuarine systems in Georgia. During the summer of 2020, Joe participated in the Duke University Marine Lab REU program and completed a research paper titled, \u201cAssessment of implantable tags on short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus),\u201d mentored by Ms. Danielle Waples and Dr. Andrew (Andy) Read. He presented this research at the ASLO 2021 Aquatic Sciences Meeting in summer 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe joined the SSU Dolphin Lab under Dr. Tara Cox in fall of 2021 as a Masters student. Joe\u2019s research centered around marine mammal physiology, marine toxicology, spatial ecology, conservation biology, and evolutionary biology. He graduated with his Master’s degree in May 2023, and he plans to pursue a doctorate degree in marine mammalogy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
