Jaelyn Leslie received her B.S. in Marine and Environmental Science from Hampton University. During her undergraduate career, she conducted research with Drs. Carolina Lewallen of Hampton University, and Tara Cox of Savannah State University. Under their mentorship, Jaelyn investigated the impact of environmental toxins on male dolphins in Savannah, GA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaelyn earned her master’s degree from Hampton University in 2022 under the advisement of Dr. Carolina Lewallen. Her Master’s thesis focused on assessing the potential long-term impacts of the 2013 cetacean morbillivirus outbreak on stranding frequencies and body condition of common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops trucatus<\/em>) from Virginia. Her M.S. research was conducted with Dr. Carolina Lewallen, at HU, investigating the prevalence of dolphin standings on the Virginia coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Fall of 2022, Jaelyn went to UNC Chapel Hill to pursue an internship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
