Tahirah Johnson received her Ph.D. in Food & Agricultural Sciences from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Dec. 13, 2025. Under the advisement of Dr. Salina Parveen, Tahirah’s research focused on environmental health, water quality, and seafood safety related to the incidence and pathogenic potential of the bacterium Shewanella, which infects oysters. Her dissertation was titled, \u201cPrevalence, Antibiotic Resistance, Whole Genome Sequencing and Control of Shewanella spp. in Oysters (Crassostrea virginica<\/em>) and Seawater collected from the Mid-Atlantic Region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, she graduated from Morgan State University in 2018 with her B.S. degree in Nutritional Science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
